When Man Utd won the treble in 1999 they were in such a position and having played such a brand of fantastic football that many players around the world would want to join them. Indeed even the great Gabriel Batistuta was trying to get himself a move to Old Trafford to join in the fun. We were interested in Zidane, Davids, Rivaldo, Veron and we could've got some of these players. However the summer signings in 1999 read Mark Bosnich, Quinton Fortune, Massimo Taibi and Mikael Silvestre. What happened? United didn't dominate the European game and got progressively worse.
Only interested in Berbatov who may or may not come but I don't think he's a special signing but probably at best just a good one. If he doesn't come then I can see us starting the season with no new signings. We may or may not win the league next season but certainly Europe will be a disappointment after last season unless we do something.
So I say we're in a position of real power here. Why not make blockbusting bids for the likes of Roque Santa Cruz or Kaka? As much as I was concerned in the way things were at the beginning, fearing the worst such as the selling of the old trafford for 200mil, appointing some other manager or meddling in club affairs... Glazer Scum quietly preside over Man United’s illusion of solvency whilst the REAL fans are being robbed blind by the greedy low life scum.
MANCHESTER, England – Manchester United is on the verge of adding a Champions League crown to its second straight English Premier League title – not bad for an outfit supposedly destined for doom and ultimate destruction following the Glazer scum family’s takeover in May 2005.
The controversial purchase prompted United fans to burn effigies of low life Malcolm Glazer, cause diehard supporters to rip up season tickets and form a breakaway team (FC United of Manchester) and even force club CEO David Gill to publicly voice his concerns over the “aggressive” nature of the Glazer scums’ business plan.
But since the Florida-based Glazer scum arrived in town, United have won at least one trophy a year and team boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been given fortunes to spend in the transfer market in order to rein in, and overtake, Chelsea and Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
Still, despite Man U’s recent run of success, a fear remains that the “spend today, pay tomorrow” philosophy the Glazers scum have adopted has left them sitting on a ticking time bomb at Old Trafford.
Recent published accounts show that United owes a staggering 56 million pounds (roughly $110 million) in transfer fees on players signed since May 2005. But while Liverpool, Manchester City and even Chelsea find themselves at the mercy of meddling owners, Ferguson and United have just been left alone to do what they are good at – winning.
“It’s three years since the family took over and what they did when they arrived was recognize the importance of Sir Alex Ferguson,” admits CEO Gill, who was retained by the Glazer scums despite his opposition to the takeover.
“They recognize the importance of what happens on the pitch to their business plans off it and we have managed to have that stability on and off the pitch for a few years now. But there will always be certain factions and elements that will be anti-Glazer scum, even if we win the European Cup in Moscow.
“That’s the thing about all football clubs and we’ve seen it with some of our competitors this year. You will never get everybody agreeing, and if you do, it is extremely rare.”
There is no middle ground when it comes to assessing the job done by the Glazers scum. To a few United fans, the yank scum are no different to club owners of the past – wealthy businessmen who just happen to see soccer as a way of making big bucks. But a vocal majority continues to rail against every move the Glazers make. Even when Ferguson splashed out more than 50 million pounds to sign Anderson, Nani, Owen Hargreaves and Carlos Tevez last summer, the gesture was written off as being hollow by some supporters who continue to be concerned by United’s increasing borrowings, which have been revealed to be running in excess of 760 million pounds (nearly $1.5 billion).
In the recently published reports, the total interest payable by the club on its borrowings was 81 million pounds, although only 42 million of it was actually paid. The rest, which accrued on the millions owed to hedge funds, is allowed to roll up until the whole amount has to be repaid in 2016, or, alternatively, until the Glazer scum can refinance it.
Having seen Leeds United live beyond its means and pay the price by suffering two relegations that see them now lying in English football’s third tier, the nightmare scenario for United fans is that the club’s escalating debts could trigger another meltdown at Old Trafford, resulting in star names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand all being sold to balance the books.
It’s a far-fetched script, but the fans opposed to the Glazer scum are concerned that the investment from the Americans so far has been minimal.
“It is outrageous that supporters are paying the huge interest on these borrowings, which are worrying for the club’s future,” said Sean Bones of the Manchester United Supporters Trust. “Our money is pouring out to pay the Glazers, while they have not put a penny into the club.”
Success on the pitch drives financial gain off it, however, and while the Glazer scums’ plan may well be as aggressive as Gill suggested it to be prior to the takeover, there is no question United has stepped up a gear on the pitch under the Glazer scum.
Ferguson’s team regularly qualifies for the Champions League and rakes in over 3 million pounds a game at home. AIG pays the club almost 15 million pounds a year to have the insurance company’s logo emblazoned on the Red Devils’ shirt, and the United brand continues to shoot for the stars in the Far East and Africa.
A victory in the Champions League final in Moscow on Wednesday will only increase United’s global recognition. All the Glazer scumbags need to do is sit back and leave everything to Ferguson and his players to ensure that their investment continues to grow.
“I’m very fortunate,” Ferguson said. “The Glazers have been tremendous. They let me get on with the job and I am very lucky in that respect. Some managers aren’t so fortunate.”
Once the credit crunch eases, the Glazer scum are expected to refinance their debts to ease the hefty repayments that they still have to make on the loans. But while the debt levels remain an issue, perhaps the biggest worry will come when the Glazer scum decide that the time is right to cash in and walk away from Old Trafford with a huge profit.
As fans have seen at Liverpool and Man City, wealthy tycoons promising trophies and star players don’t always deliver. The Glazer scum continue to say nothing, but actions speak louder than words. And the cups in United’s trophy room say everything that needs to be said about the stewardship of the club.
The Glazer scums’ silence is currently golden – especially when compared to the constant backbiting involving warring Liverpool partners Tom Hicks and George Gillett. But if things start to turn sour at United, Ferguson’s soothing words about the Glazers won’t be enough to calm the tensions. Anything uttered by Joel the lier, Bryan the fag, Avram the puppet or even Malcolm ‘the big scumbag’ Glazer would only add fuel to the fire.
So while everything appears to be working well at Manchester United, it could well be a case that saying nothing is indeed the best policy.

Sorry, I cannot say anything bad about the glazers. Under the Stock Market regime it would have been impossible to spend ?80M in one year.
2 title's (including 2008), 2 ECL semi's (possibly fnal 2008) and two FA Cup finals under their ownership is extremely good. Not to mention that there is nearly a third of the debt against the club compared to what some keep saying... ?660M?? Why say that figure? it ain't true.
If the last three years are what United fans are to exect from Glazer regime then I am more than happy for it to remain in place. They are business men granted... as were the Edwards and other shareholder's who wouldn't allow a transfer kitty over ?30M in a one year period.
I bet a few clubs have already launched secret bids for Ronaldo, and I bet the former Shareholders would have instructed the old to sell. It looks even less extravagant when one considers the club's spending since the Glazers took over.
Apart from the £18m deal with Spurs for Michael Carrick (another transfer which involved a much smaller up-front payment), the Glazers have until this year made no major acquisitions. In fact they are in the black thanks to the £11m sale of Ruud van Nistelrooy to Real Madrid and the £12m they received in compensation from Chelsea to settle the dispute over Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel.
The Glazers arrived at Old Trafford promising Ferguson an annual transfer kitty of £25m plus an extra £25m for a star player, but the actual outlay has, until this summer, been zero.
And despite the financial success of last season, there is serious discontent among supporters over the way ticket prices have been raised for the coming season by 14 per cent. The increase comes on the back of a 12 per cent rise last year.
In addition the club have introduced a scheme which will force season ticket holders to pay for cup matches. Last week, one fan began county court proceedings against the club, claiming the move amounted to restrictive practices.

You guys need to lighten up on the Glazers, they do a fantastic job and I think you will see that. We had similar feelings when they took over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL team) in Tampa, Florida but they have really done some wonderful things for the community and have extremely deep pockets. They will shell out any amount of money if it means it's going to help them win. Since they've been here we have a brand new stadium, completely restored our dead franchise, new state of the art training facilities, it's great.
